"The pen was a gift from her grandfather and with it he had attached a promise: that one day she would use the pen to write her own novel. He had known since the day she was born that
literature was her destiny."

The Lost Art of Letter Writing

Along with writing, teaching is one of my greatest passions - what
could be better, after all, than chatting about books for hours with
those who love literature as much as you do?! Answer: drinking tea
and eating cake while you're doing it.

There's nothing quite like teaching in person, so I do that as often
as I'm able. I recently founded the Cambridge Creative Writing
Company with my friend and fellow author, Emily Winslow.
We hold small, intimate classes in the beautiful colleges of
Cambridge University. Visit our website for dates and availability.

Occasionally, I mentor writers who are working on a manuscript
for publication. Due to time constraints, I only take on 1 or 2 students
per year. If you'd like to work with me, please submit your first three chapters
along with a brief synopsis of the novel.

"Since working with Menna I've had one piece of writing longlisted and another accepted for publication." Sara Litchfield

"I’ve secured a book deal with Graffeg my book is set to be published in June 2025. Thank you so much for all your guidance and support throughout this journey. I truly couldn’t have done it without you!" Circle Yuen

"I had the great opportunity to be taught by Menna at the University of Cambridge and afterwards being mentored by her. Menna is an amazing mentor and I couldn't be more grateful to be inspired by her every day! She is very passionate, knowledgeable and detail-oriented in her feedback, I can't begin to explain how my writing has improved after working with her." Shirley MacOka

"Your class made a lasting impression on me. The way you spoke about finding voice, trusting the reader, and taking creative risks has stayed with me long after the course ended. The advice and feedback I have received throughout the course shaped me more than I realised at the time. In hindsight, it gave me a renewed vigour and a genuine desire to continue learning. Thank you!" Amarutha Manoj
